Elko Boggin'

August 1, 2009

The August 1, 2009 Boggin kicked of to the largest crowd I have seen.

Twenty three trucks competed at the Fast Track and Thirty chose to test the Boggin' Pit.

Things got off to a late start due to electrical problems. For some reason the power was off at sections of the Boggin' site. Despite the best efforts of the power company, it could not be restored in time for the event, but by using portable generators the event went on.

One advantage of the delay was that I was able to get more pictures of the trucks before they hit the track.

There were a lot of trucks I had never seen before. I sincerely hope the electrical problems don't deter them from coming back for future events.

 The Trucks

I couldn't resist a couple of shots of this young man's completely restored 1977 Pontiac Trans-Am.
This is the same model used in the Burt Reynolds' "Smoky and the Bandit" series.

 At the Fast Track

 At the Boggin' Pit

Though the Boggin's pit did not appear as soupy as it often does, that thicker mud was more slippery.

Several trucks nearly sild into the wall and the Elko Boggin Team's truck, "The Beast" almost went airborn, the second time all four wheels left the ground.

It was an exciting event, but fortunately with no crashes

Some new friends we made at the Boggin'
The things I do to take these pictures.
All that mud you saw flying tried to land on Me.
I told the event directors they would have to start paying my laundry bills.
They said if I did that, they would have to start charging me for all the dirt I removed from the site.
