Dances
Many who know me today, do not realize that I was once a Professional Western Dance Instructor and Competition Judge.
I became involved in Country-Western Dancing in 1982 and began teaching in 1983. At present I am the longest lasting instructor in the Middle Georgia area, having never been out of teaching for more than one month. Currently I am only teaching at the Warner Robins Moose Lodge #1688, where we have weekly lessons, every Thursday since October of 1996. Prior to this, my longest engagement was at the "Stardust Club" where I taught, twice weekly, lessons from '83 till the club closed in 1991.
During this time I also taught at many other Clubs, throughout the mid-state area including Frosty's Pub, Long Branch Saloon, High Country (at the Ramada Inn), Rooster's, Chevy's, Radisson Inn, Eagle Springs Community Center, and several more.
In 1992 a partner and I opened "The Crossing - Western Dance Studio", hosting nightly lessons in Line, Partners and Couples dancing. A year later I left my regular job to devote myself full time to the Dance Studio and also bought out my partner's share of the business. From there I moved to a larger facility in downtown Warner Robins, GA. where I opened "The Crossing - Dance Depot". This successful endeavor culminated in the Country-Western Nightclub, "Confederate Cowboy's". Though fun and entertaining for the Dancers, this venture was doomed to failure due to the opening of a newer larger nightclub in nearby Macon GA. "Confederate Cowboy's" closed its doors in September 1996.
By 1993 I felt I had enough experience to test my skills in National competitions where my wife/partner Connie and I accrued three Third Place and one Fourth Place trophies in Couples Competition.
In this same year I began Judging Line Dance Competitions for the Country Western Line dance Association (CWLDA). While with the CWLDA I judged competitions across the nation: from San Jose`, California to Portland, Maine, including five International Grand Championships. Within a year my language skills were recognized as well as my attention to detail and I was given the duties of Proofreader for the CWLDA Competition Step Descriptions. In 1995 I was appointed to the CWLDA Advisory Committee.
Ever the teacher, I taught workshops whenever my Judging duties permitted. These workshops were usually filled with capacity crowds learning my original choreography. Sometimes even attended by other top ranking choreographers and instructors.
By 1994 I had been acknowledged as one of the top Judges in the CWLDA. Competitors recognized my eye for detail and my fairness in judging. With this in mind I hosted my first event, "Great Southern Line Dance Festival and Competition", in Warner Robins, Georgia; my home town. This competition returned for three consecutive years, until the Line Dance fad begin to die down.
The 2nd Great Southern was an even bigger success, mainly due to the fact I had moved into "The Crossing - Dance Depot" in a much larger building with my own 1700 square foot dance floor. Having my own Alcohol-Free nightclub eliminated the need to rent a large hall and the success of the 1st Great Southern aroused the interest of many more competitors.
In September of 1998 the CWLDA hosted its last competition, in Denver Colorado. Naturally I was there, teaching and judging, but this time assuming the duties of "Judge Coordinator", overseeing the competition and presiding over Judges Conferences.
Since this final competition I have taught at the local Moose Lodge (Warner Robins Lodge #1688), giving weekly lessons and serving as Coach/Team leader for the "Moosen' Around Country Dancers".
With a quarter-century experience of teaching C/W Dancing and choreographing dances, my enthusiasm still hasn't waned. I still enjoy it nearly as much as I did when I first started, back in 1982.

Several more
dances can now be download (below) in Adobe Acrobat format.
These dances have been carefully checked to insure accuracy of the steps and
counts.
I do not endorse all of these dances. In fact I don't particularly care
for some of them.
I just happened to have them re-written into my preferred format.
