The first Great Southern Line Dance Festival and Competition was held in Warner Robins, Georgia in 1994 at the Radisson Inn.  Competitor and Judges came from all over the country, from Maine to California, to attend this event.

While the Competition was in progress, workshops for all levels of dancers were held at the nearby, Crossing Western Dance Studio.

With Competitions beginning at 8:00 am and lasting till about 6:00 pm it was a grueling but enjoyable day for everyone, spectators and competitors alike.  In the evening there was open dancing, till midnight, to the music of D.J. Bill Barker of Total Sound Productions.

It was a great and fun filled three day event, with Preliminaries on Friday and Saturday and Finals, Teams and the Award Ceremony on Sunday.

All divisions were offered; Tenderfoot, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Partners, Outlaw and Teams.  The most exciting Division, by far was "Outlaw" where the dancers could do whatever they wanted to the dance.  Little Cody Stephens (MD.) and Matthew Krabbe (N.C.) competed against veteran dancer, Mike McElwaney (GA.).  This was a real showdown as the kids tore up the floor, defeating Mike in an unbelievable upset.

This earned Cody the title of "The Littlest Outlaw", memorialized on the T-Shirts designed by his mother and distributed to friends and family.  Connie still has hers.

Mike really had to work for his share of this trophy.  Those kids could really dance.
